The two oldest Lindberg children sister Signe and Sven went to Chefoo for school. The other three were at home in Kiaochow. At that time the mission board in Sweden suggested that mission work be started in Chucheng about fifty miles southwest of Kiaochow.1
The Lindberg family moved to the city of Chucheng where they were to start a new mission. They found a house with a very reasonable rent and moved in. Like the Rinells before them, they found out that the house was considered to be haunted and had not been lived in for over ten years. The Chinese felt sorry for this family. No doubt the children would get sick and die. When the children remained healthy, they thought they must have some power to ward of disease and evil. The local women started visiting Anna bringing gifts of eggs and fruit and asking Anna for her children's old clothes so they could be put on their own children to protect them from evil spirits and keep them healthy. Having the Chinese women come to her home gave her opportunity to talk to them about her God.2
