Brocante - Antique Flea Market
The place to go for good quality antiques. The prices are usually
high, but you can still find bargains. Even you don't find something
to purchase you can very much enjoy seeing what people used in the
'old days.'

Unusual Plants Days
At this event is a huge selection of weird and wonderful plants from
all the best growers in Switzerland. In the words of Lisa, 'We bought
two clematis there last year and we haven't managed to kill them yet!÷In
fact they are spreading like wildfire. Honestly, it's worth a visit
because the plants, all for sale, are stunning.÷You can find fruit
trees, bushes, herbs, carnivorous plants - ok, we did kill that one
but it was an accident- and a whole lot more. There's usually a screech
for little kids who donut appreciate the splendors of nature, and
boys with wheelbarrows to transport your purchases to the pick-up
point.'

Paleo Festival Nyon
The Paleo Festival in Nyon is best described by a quote
from the festival's website:
"The Pa leo Festival sets out to create a marriage of concert and
carnival, to create a kaleidoscopic event that will stimulate public
curiosity, for new artists and less well-known musical styles. The
Paleo is both a launching pad for new talents and a platform for
established stars. Over the years it has widened its range of musical
styles and come to include circus and street performance as well.
Six specially constructed stages play host to acts from all over
the world." The good music, good food, and handcrafted items at
this popular faire draws more than 225,000 visitors in a five day
period. More information

For one long weekend a year the street musicians are the kings of

Every town needs a time when they can just 'let loose'. New Orleans
has the Mardi Gras, Venice and Rio de Janeiro have their Carnival,
Neuchâtel has the Fete des Vendanges or Grape
Harvest Festival. The premier festival of the year this celebration
draws tens of thousands of visitors for three days of wine an beer
tasting, eating, music, rides for kids and a parade.

Brocante - antique flea market
Located in one of the most adorable ancient villages in Switzerland
this flea market is one of my favorites. Whereas the Neuchâtel
brocante is composed mostly of antique dealers, this antique market
seems to draw sellers who are into it only part time. Many prices
are still expensive, but you can find better deals, and more interesting,
unique items to look at.
